Walter C. Sumner Memorial Fellowship

The Walter C. Sumner Memorial Fellowships are available to Canadian citizens engaged in or about to start doctoral studies in Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science at UBC.  The award is valued at $8,000 for one year, but may be extended for a second year.

Application deadline: 4:00 pm on Thursday, 1 April 2021 (applications are submitted directly by applicants to G+PS)

May 2021 Graduation Deadlines

Can you please remind all Graduate Students that are hoping to have their degree granted in May that the application for graduation will be available on the Student Service Centre until Friday, February 26, 2021.

A late application form for graduation will be available on our website early next week for students that have missed the Student Service Centre deadline.  Please note that this form is for Graduate Students only.

Please advise students that are hoping to graduate in May 2021, that it is very important that they apply for graduation as soon as possible, and should not wait until they submit their final thesis to G+PS or complete the program requirements for non-thesis programs. There are no negative consequences to applying and there is no fee.

Last day for late applications for graduation to be submitted to Enrolment Services by all students expecting to graduate in May 2021.

Last day for final master’s theses and doctoral dissertations to be approved by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies for May 2021 degree granting and Congregation. Must be approved and accepted by 4:00 pm.

Last day for students to complete all program requirements (including major papers) for non-thesis master’s degrees for May 2021 degree granting and Congregation.  Program staff please date all of your degree completion memo’s for this date when forwarding to G+PS for processing.

Event: Black Experiences in Graduate Education – Feb. 25 (5:30 pm)

Black History Month provides an opportunity to celebrate Black history and excellence; and the many contributions of Black Canadians, Black British Columbians, and Black students, faculty and staff at UBC.

The Graduate Student Society, with the support of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, is organizing a student-led panel discussion on Black Experiences in Graduate Education. The panel will consist of four current and former Black graduate students and a moderator, and will tackle questions around the successes and challenges of their journey.

2020 tax slips are now ready

Faculty & Staff 2020 Tax Slips Now Available

UBC issues tax slips online as PDFs that are identical to the printed form and are accepted to by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) when filing your taxes.

T4 tax slips (and T4As, where applicable) for the 2020 tax year are now available through the Workday system.

Paper copies of T4s will be mailed to employees that left UBC between January 1, 2020 and October 31, 2020. Employees that left the university between November 1, 2020, and December 31, 2020 will be able to access their tax slips through Workday (please note that an active CWL ID and password are required).

How do I find my T4? (CWL-login required)

Tax slips from previous tax years can still be accessed through Peoplesoft.
