BC Institute of Agrologists Scholarships

Agrologists!  Do you know a student attending a BC post-secondary agrology-related program?

To support future agrologists in achieving their career in agrology, the BC Institute of Agrologists awards up to two $1500 scholarships annually.

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Scholarship applicants must be:

  • enrolled in a degree program in a recognized British Columbia post-secondary institute
  • enrolled in 3rd or 4th undergraduate degree program or a post-graduate (Masters) program
  • full-time or part-time (no fewer than 2 courses)
  • enrolled in a program of study related to agrology
  • a student member or member of BCIA  (Complete student member application at https://www.bcia.com/members/student-membership )
  • Canadian or permanent resident of Canada
  • B+ average academic achievement in previous 2 years(minimum of 15 courses) of post-secondary degree studies

Application for the 2019 BCIA Scholarships is from July 1, 2019 to October 15, 2019.

Graduate Instructional Skills Workshop WAITLIST for NOVEMBER 16, 17 & 23, 2019 OPENS SEPTEMBER 30, 2019

The waitlist registration for the Graduate Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) for NOVEMBER 16, 17 & 23, 2019 OPENS SEPTEMBER 30, 2019. 

The Grad ISW is a 3-day intensive workshop that develops participant’s teaching skills and confidence.  It is appropriate for individuals new to teaching as well as those who wish to refresh and enhance their skills.  Join the thousands of students who have taken this workshop. The ISW is an internationally recognized program and participants receive transcript notation and are awarded a Certificate of Completion. In addition, upon successful completion of the workshop, graduate students are eligible to become CIRTL associates.

 

IMPORTANT: The workshop runs from 8:15am-5:00pm. Please note you must attend all three days for the complete duration of the workshop, i.e. the entire 24-hour workshop.

Waitlist registration will close on November 13, 2019 at 4:30 pm. By clicking this link, you are signing up for the WAITLIST only,  this DOES NOT register you for the workshop. Due to high demand, participants are randomly selected from the waitlist. PRSSS Fall Field Trip

Pacific Regional Society for Soil Science: FALL FIELD TOUR

Please join us for our annual PRSSS Fall Field Tour on October 5 – 6.  This year we will be exploring the soils of the Lower Mainland. The tour will provide us an opportunity to explore various soil types found in this area.

Location: Lower Mainland, British Columbia, Canada

When: October 5 – 6, 2019

Prices:  Regular (non-students) – $70 CAD  /  Students – $40 CAD

Cost includes transportation, campsite fee, and Saturday night dinner.

Garden Cooking Workshop promotions

As you are aware MOV is preparing for our Chinese Cooking Workshop next Wednesday, October 2. Ticket sales have been moving slowly. We were hoping you might be able to disperse marketing materials among colleagues at St John’s College and perhaps through the Food and Sustainability department.
