GSS Writing Bootcamp
Loose the distraction and focus on your writing
Separate yourself from distractions and non-research responsibilities, and surround yourself with a community of writers at the GSS’s one-day academic bootcamp on April 27th, hosted by the award-winning instructor and editor Dr. Letitia Henville of shortishard.ca.
This bootcamp is open to all UBC graduate students.
This one-day writing intensive is structured to break writing anxieties and foster effective writing habits. With a mix of short writing bursts and breaks for structured conversations about academic writing and editing, this bootcamp will help you to push your writing substantially forward.

Join our friends at the Interdisciplinary Graduate Student Network (iGSN)for Recruitment night on April 12th.
The iGSN brings together graduate students from various academic disciplines across UBC to interact and learn from each other in a fun and social setting. It’s a great way to meet other grad students and if your interested you can join their team.
Volunteer at the biggest academic event of the year
Congress 2019 will be hosted at The University of British Columbia (on the Vancouver campus) from June 1 to June 7, 2019. Organized by the Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences, Congress is the largest interdisciplinary conference in Canada, and one of the largest in the world. It is expected to attract 10,000 visitors to campus.
UBC is looking to fill more than 900 volunteer positions. As well as interesting opportunities, volunteers will be able to attend events at Congress and network with scholars from across the world.
