IFT’s Education, Extension and Outreach Division (EEOD) is seeking new members to join it’s leadership team, especially students and early-career professionals. This is a fantastic opportunity for those who are or who may be interested in pursuing a career in academia as an instructor or faculty member with teaching or extension responsibilities.

The EEOD strives to provide food science students and educators with helpful teaching and mentoring resources, inspiration for enhancing student learning in their classrooms, and a space to connect and learn from one another.

Leadership member activities include:

·         Attending bi-monthly meetings to plan division activities

·         Participating in one or more working groups such as:

o    IFT First EEOD session planning

o    Fall and spring seminar/workshop planning

o    Student support – mentorship, workshops, competitions

o    Quarterly newsletter planning

o    Grant application support

o    Fundraising

·         Promoting EEOD activities

 

Graduate students will benefit from:

·         One on one mentoring with esteemed food science professors

o   Mentoring will relate to how to achieve and what it’s like to have a career in academia

·         Gaining international leadership and organizational skills

·         Networking with like-minded people passionate about food science education

·         Learning more about best teaching and learning practices in food science education
