Your Opportunity:

E.S. Cropconsult provides professional consulting in pest and disease monitoring to local farmers and have expert knowledge of local agricultural challenges. At present, we provide services for 10,000+ acres of 12 agricultural commodities of perennial and annual field crops. As an employer, E.S. We have an exciting opportunity for two full-time permanent Supervisor positions covering the Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver. This position is responsible for the supervision of 5-10 client contracts by leading a team to collect pest information and advising on the best possible management solutions

according to an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategy. This position is in-person during the growing season with workflow flexibility in the winter months.

Your In-Season Duties (estimated March – September):

  • Work closely with a team of supervisors, communicating clearly and regularly with the
  • Logistical planning, problem-solving, and creating a daily schedule for field monitoring throughout the field season.
  • Train and supervise a team of field
  • Provide weekly monitoring reports to clients including field observations and recommendations for pest management.
  • Ensure clients are satisfied with service and be willing to provide additional information upon
  • Expect to work outside in varying weather conditions, 45-55 hours per
  • Drive between multiple locations within the work day in addition to daily

Your Off-Season Duties (estimated October – February):

  • Collaborate with colleagues to assist in research projects, both in-field and
  • Research to improve knowledge of the crop(s) you work
  • Take on additional roles within the team based on your existing strengths and career
    • Examples: Outreach, technology advancements, or new project/service
  • Conduct historical data analysis and summaries, for the purpose of maintaining standards of
  • Option for working remotely, subject to approval, 20-40 hours per week with occasional in- person requirements.

 

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • Eligible for membership with the BC Institute of Agrologists (BCIA) – PAg, LLAg,
  • Minimum one year of related industry
  • Ability to demonstrate strong communication and emotional self-regulation
    • Solid work ethic and time
    • Strong leadership abilities, interpersonal skills, and ability to work
    • Demonstrated resiliency under
  • Knowledge of pests and management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Access to a reliable vehicle (with space for equipment) and a valid BC (or equivalent) driver’s
  • Capable of taking
  • Have a strong interest in working in agriculture and outdoors, with capability to walk 5-10 km per day on uneven terrain.

Salary and Benefits:

This position is paid hourly in bi-weekly pay periods. Starting wage will range from $21 – $26/hr based on education and previous experience. Vacation pay is accumulated with each pay cheque at 4%.

$0.64/km driven after that.

Job Site Locations:

Our field work takes place across the Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver, so you may be required to work in any of the following locations: Richmond, Delta, Surrey, Langley, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, and Pitt Meadows. Our administrative office is located in Campbell Heights, Surrey.

The Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT) will be offering a Graduate Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) on February 8, 15 & 16, 2025.

The Grad ISW is a 24-hour, fully participatory, and peer-based professional development workshop for graduate students that is beneficial to both new and experienced instructors.

Please note: You must attend all sessions and complete all independent work for the complete duration of the workshop, (i.e. the entire 24-hour workshop).

  • a joint degree graduate student who is enrolled at UBC and another institution
  • a graduate student at UBC pursuing non-degree studies
  • a visiting graduate student that is eligible to take courses

A participant who wishes to take the Grad ISW is not eligible if they are:

  • not a graduate student at UBC
  • a graduate student at UBC who has on-leave status
  • a visiting graduate student that is not eligible to take courses

This Social Insurance Number (SIN) Virtual Information Session and 2024 Winter Term 2 SIN Clinic will be particularly helpful for newly arriving international students who will need SIN in Canada. This session can also accommodate Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents of Canada who do not yet have a SIN.
