Celebrate Earth Day 2017 at UBC

Join Earth Day (April 22) celebrations at UBC. This year’s theme for Earth Day is Environmental & Climate Literacy and Earth Play. As a university, we recognize that in order to find creative solutions to the ecological, economic and social challenges of our time, we must explore, advance and apply our understanding of sustainability. Visit our Earth Day page, explore perspectives on sustainability, and participate in events on and off-campus. Sign up for our events below and celebrate Earth with us!

Play the Climate Change Game April 24 | 12:00PM | CIRS

The year is 2100. You live in a dystopic future where the City of Delta has failed to address climate change adequately – it has been affected by sea-level rise, storm surges, heat waves & fires, and communities are facing food shortages, high-prices, increased traffic and pollution. Can you change the future? Travel back in time to present day and see if you have what it takes to change the future…for better or for worse. Play the game and explore how interactive and scenario-based computer games can help foster climate literacy.

Let us know you’ll be there

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS – NRC Forum on Nutrition and Mental Health, November 2017

Standard

I’m writing on behalf of the Nutrition Resource Centre to kindly remind you of our upcoming conference this November, 9, 2017 on nutrition and mental health in Toronto, Ontario.
At this one day event, we aim to bring together nutrition and health promotion professionals from across Ontario (and Canada) to explore the relationship between nutrition and mental health. We’ll have a mix of presentations, workshops and networking sessions so attendees can learn from others across the health sector whose work is connected to this topic.

Our 2017 Forum will combine scientific evidence and practical experiences surrounding nutrition and mental health with moving personal stories and opportunities to network with inspiring leaders in the field.

We’re thrilled to bring a diverse range of speakers from academia, community health, public health and more to dive into the complex relationship between nutrition and mental health/ wellbeing. Our keynote speaker is Dr. Drew Ramsey, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Colombia University, and one of psychiatry’s leading proponents of using dietary change to help balance moods, sharpen brain function and improve mental health. Read his bio here

If you’re passionate about maximizing nutrition and mental health together to promote overall health and wellbeing, this is your can’t-miss event of the year!
