Update on CSAS Student Competitions at the 2020 ASAS-CSAS Joint Annual Meeting

It is with regret that we announce that the Canadian Society of Animal Science Graduate Student oral and poster competitions at the 2020 ASAS-CSAS Joint Annual Meeting in Madison, WI have been cancelled due to increased COVID-19 concerns. It is important that we do all we can to protect our community and feel that this is the responsible choice. We understand that this will be disappointing to hear but feel that we would not be able to provide the quality of competition required. This decision is based on travel restrictions currently in place, uncertainty around when restrictions may end, as well as announced changes to the conference from ASAS regarding virtual and in-person options for attendance and presentation. This level of uncertainty We hope that students will still consider submission of their abstracts to the 2020 meeting and encourage all conference attendees to visit the JAM website for alternatives for potential symposia and presentation formats (asas.org).

Despite the cancellation of competitions, we will still offer student travel awards to allow for virtual or in-person attendance of the conference.  Please see the attached call for applications for travel awards for graduate and postdoctoral attendance (virtual or in-person) at the annual meeting.  Deadline is May 30.

Regards,

Dan
