With or Without Technology: But Student Engagement is the Key
I happen to stumble upon this video clip and it made me think of how we teach our students. What do we do to engage them or do we still rely on all this information transmission method that doesn’t engage our students to think independently. While you might argue that this is comedy, for many our students, this is a day-to-day reality. How fair and productive is that? I do not think that technology is panacea as we all know what happens when bad teachers get access to PowerPoint and a computer projector, but what is the answer is teacher education… We have to change how we prepare our teachers, how we certify them and how we mentor them after they got their certification… Our kids deserve high quality teachers… not the ones like in this video clip…
And this is a video from decades ago showing various teaching strategies… I wonder what was the motivation of the people who created this video? Interesting but feel very strange and unnatural…
