New York program that pays students to score well on AP exams produces fewer passing grades

The latest in the pay-for-test-scores approach to education reform is proving to be a failure.

The New York Times reports that a $2 million program aimed at “closing the racial gap in Advance Placement results” got more students to take AP tests, but produced fewer passing grades than in the past.

Students were offered up to $1,000 for scoring well on AP exams.
