I grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, completed an honors degree in psychology at the University of Winnipeg. Following my undergraduate degree, I worked as a program facilitator at an independent living program for young adults with social and cognitive challenges. While in this role I grew passionate about supporting young people with differing abilities in mental health. I moved to Vancouver to pursue my master’s degree in school psychology at the University of British Columbia (UBC). My master’s thesis focused on how young adults with intellectual disabilities conceptualize positive mental health. I am currently working on a PhD in School and Applied Child Psychology at UBC. There are many things I love about the SACP program, but including the many opportunities to be involved in clinically relevant research projects. I also work part time as a school psychologist, providing assessments, group and individual interventions, and consultation. My dissertation work will focus on developing tools for increasing mental health literacy in individuals with developmental disabilities. When I’m not working, I enjoy enjoys running, cooking, hiking, enjoying the beauty of Vancouver, and exploring different restaurants.
