Melanie Parent

I am a second year M.Ed. student in School and Applied Child Psychology. I grew up in Burnaby, BC, where I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree with a dual major in Psychology and English. I was later trained in TESOL and the Orton-Gillingham approach, which lead to me teaching at a remediation tutoring center working with children with learning differences. This sparked my interest in psychoeducational testing, learning differences, neurodiversity, and the influence of anxiety and depression on the learning process. My non-school interests are singing, drawing, nail art, crocheting, yoga and swimming. I actually used to be a lifeguard for several years and I was a main soloist in my undergraduate show tunes club!
