Julia Toews

I grew up on a currant and gooseberry farm in rural Abbotsford BC, and received my BA in honours psychology from the University of the Fraser Valley. During undergrad, I was drawn towards research that promoted justice and social change, and conducted an honours thesis that focussed on changing negative attitudes towards sexual minorities. My other research interests include adolescent mental health and emerging psychopharmacological interventions. In my (albeit limited) spare time, I enjoy sewing dresses from thrift store curtains, reading far too much domestic noir fiction, replaying video games and dabbling in mead craft. I am looking forward to being physically on campus so that I am forced to stop taking elaborately staged photos of my cat, Beans.
