Remembering Mental Health on Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day was a week ago but I thought it would still be nice to reflect on some things often forgotten each year on November 11th.  For most people, Remembrance Day is a special day to remember and recognize the soldiers who sacrificed their lives so we could live ours.  What is often forgotten, however, is that many veterans have suffered and continue to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder which can lead to mental health problems later on.  As a part of the UBC Mental Health Awareness Club, I think it’s important that we raise awareness about how we can support these Canadian veterans.  Upon further research, I found a couple organizations that help support veterans suffering from PTSD and I encourage you to check them out and learn more about how we can further support the soldiers who helped make our lives better.  There’s also a link to an article that lists some ways you can volunteer for some of these organizations.
L’est we forget.
