Study spots to ease the study stress

In the midst of midterm season, and deep in the depths of studying way too much, I would like to share with you a few good studying spots. The difference between these special spots and your typical place of study is that my spots may feel a little more cozy, and a little less like you’re becoming trapped.

  1. Irving K Barber Music, Art, and Architecture Library Go to the third floor of IKB, walk past the help desk, enter the silent area of the library, and walk straight to the back. I call this the Harry Potter room. The couch chairs are extra comfy and the tables are large and spacious. I get my most difficult work done here.
  2. Former BIE Lounge (I don’t know the official name)– This is a beautiful yet cozy spot perfect for snuggling up and getting some studying done. It’s right next to the Rose Gardens: walk down the first set of steps past the flagpole and turn left. You’ll see a beautiful pond, with the building beside it. This is especially good for tricking yourself into feeling like you’re not in a school environment (as we often need), but still getting some work done.
P.S. This is a great spot for reading!
  3. Forestry building– There is a cozy and quiet study area on the first floor of the Forestry building. The tables are spacious, you’re surrounded by serene trees, and, better yet, you’re right beside a Tim Horton’s.

I often find that switching up my study spots helps my motivation resurface. Go for an adventure, and treat yourself (while still getting the work done that you said you would).
