As a follow-up to the earlier blog post regarding transcripts, I wanted to clarify the points and instructions. Most internship postings do not ask for transcripts. However, it is worth being prepared.
Please follow these guidelines:
1. Official Transcripts: If an employer asks for an official transcript, your only source for that is Brock Hall (Please visit the following website for further instructions on how to obtain your current transcripts: http://www.students.ubc.ca/coursesreg/transcripts/.)
2. Unofficial Transcripts: When an employer asks for a transcript but doesn’t specify “official”, please use one of the following options:
A) Best Practice: The gold standard is the official transcript and for < $10, it is a good investment. See link above.
B) Alternative: The next best source for an unofficial record of your academic work at Sauder is the “Academic History” document. We have arranged with the graduate programs office to make these available to you at no charge. If you need an Academic History document, we would be happy to send you a PDF copy that you can then add to your document tab on COOL for those postings that request it.
Please adhere to the following instructions:
- Notify Carly by email only (carly.boettcher@sauder.ubc.ca) with a minimum of 24 hours notice
- You will receive an email from Carly with your document attached
- Please do not come to the front desk asking to have your document immediately. Follow the above procedure.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Ian Christie, MBA Director, Graduate Career Services
