CFA PROGRAM INFORMATION SESSION

CFA Society Vancouver is hosting its inaugural CFA Program information session on December 3rd with keynote speaker Michael McMillan from CFA Institute. This session is ideal for investment professionals looking to upgrade their credentials, professionals transitioning to a new career, and students wanting to enter the investment industry.

The Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) credential has become the most respected and recognized investment designation in the world; enrolling in the CFA Program is your first step toward earning this qualification.

The CFA Program curriculum covers concepts and skills you will use at all stages of your career, bridging academic theory, current industry practice, and ethical and professional standards to provide a strong foundation of advanced investment analysis and real-world portfolio management skills.

HOW IS THE CFA PROGRAM DIFFERENT?

Most graduate school programs cover a broad range of topics; the CFA Program focuses specifically on investment knowledge. The self-study format makes it easier for you to continue working /study full time while you earn the charter. Employers know the CFA Program provides the skills needed to succeed in an investment career and that earning the CFA charter demonstrates the commitment to excellence required of today’s investment professionals.

Any questions or concerns?  Please contact your Career Manager!

*Important* How to order transcripts!

*Going forward the BCC will not be responsible for the download and distribution of academic transcripts…..*

Order an Official Transcript
Even your transcript makes a first impression, so make it a good one! Transcripts that are incomplete or just screenshots frustrate recruiters. Make sure you order an official transcript from the UBC SSC. You only need to order your official transcript once for $10.00+tax, and then you can reuse that transcript for different applications.

TO DO’s – Internships/Projects

We look forward to seeing most of you back on campus next week, and wish those who are participating in Exchange the best of luck over the next few months!

We hope you had a great summer with your internships or projects and look forward to catching up over the next few weeks! With that in mind, please make note that your Final Report due to your faculty supervisor and Internship/Project Summary is due by 11:59 PM PST on Friday, September 12.

Hello from the BCC!

congrats

We are happy to let you know you have officially been deemed 2nd years in COOL. So it’s at this time that we remind you to update your resume and upload your latest version to COOL, making it your default resume.

Rodrigo and Mary are happy to review resumes now during the summer if you want feedback!  We are collecting updated resumes until Friday, August 8th,  as we will have more time to review – we expect the fall to be as busy as ever. For those who submit by this deadline – you have the opportunity to receive “Evisors” credits and access to industry webinars. Please note – on a first come – first serve basis!

We are busy planning programming for your IPD week in October, 13-17th, where we will be having a large networking event with your employers from the summer being invited as well as mentors. We mention this now in case you have an employer who asks about an event at the end of the summer. We have pushed it back this year, with the intention of it being a much larger event!!

If in the next couple of weeks, your summer employer is expressing interest in keeping you on, and you need assistance and or advice about negotiating offers, or you have questions, please feel free to reach out to Mary or Rodrigo!  We are here to help you – feel free to stop by if you are on campus!

Hope to hear you have been enjoying your respective summers, and getting out to events and broadening your network, while you have time and you’re not busy studying.

Upcoming Internship/Project Reminders!

putthis_on_calendar_clip_art

Hello Class,

We hope you are enjoying your summer! Just a friendly reminder that “Interim Reports” are due Monday, July 28th to your faculty supervisors. Please review the course outline attached below (p.2) in regards to what is expected for your “Interim Report”.

We suggest contacting your faculty supervisor to determine if this format is sufficient as they may suggest an alternative format.

For those of you who have secured your internship within the past 3-4 weeks, please connect with your faculty supervisor to determine an appropriate deadline to submit your report, as it should be submitted at the ½ way mark.

Also, your “Final Reports” are due on Friday, September 12th.  There is reference to a format in the course outline below.  Again, reach out to your faculty supervisor well before this deadline to determine a format that is sufficient for grading purposes.

When you submit your reports to faculty – please include your Career Manager and/or Carly Boettcher, Graduate Careers Assistant on your email communication so we know you have submitted accordingly.  Thanks in advance!

All the best! See you in September!
