International Students: Work Permit & SIN Card Status?

Hello FT MBA 2015 International students!

Just a friendly reminder if you have not already submitted your paperwork to obtain your Co-op Work Permit and/or SIN Card for your summer internship experience, doing so in the next few weeks is a great idea if you are staying on campus or in Vancouver during your holiday break!

IF you have received your Co-op Work Permit and/or SIN Card please stop by the BCC  during our office hours and we can make copies for your internship file to be sure you are accounted for.

Note: Co-op Work Permits/ SIN Cards must be submitted to the BCC by Monday, May 5, 2014 to be eligible to start your summer internship.  Employers may ask for this documentation as part of your summer internship job offer.  It is best to start this process now, instead of waiting to the last minute!

Any questions/concerns can be directed to Carly Boettcher, Graduate Careers Assistant at carly.boettcher@sauder.ubc.ca

Transcripts for COOL….

Moving forward, please make sure to use your official transcript (pictured below) for your applications. Please visit the following website for further instructions on how to obtain your current transcripts: http://www.students.ubc.ca/coursesreg/transcripts/.  We suggest you order and after receiving your transcript, scan and upload to your COOL profile.  Alternatively, you can send  your transcript to carly.boettcher@sauder.ubc.ca so she can upload to your COOL profile on your behalf.  It is also best to order a few times per year to ensure the most current official transcript is on file at the BCC.

Applying to job postings on COOL…

Hello Class,

As application deadlines for various internship postings are coming up and internal BCC programming may require application forms, it is imperative that all students upload their documents correctly to ensure employers and/or the BCC receive your application before the deadline.

If there is an application form and/or writing sample that is requested of you, please upload these documents as “Other Document” under your “Documents” tab on COOL.

We do not want any student to miss out on a great opportunity, so it is best to read over application instructions carefully.  IF you are still unsure of how to apply for a specific posting, please contact Carly Boettcher, Graduate Careers Assistant at carly.boettcher@sauder.ubc.ca as she is your COOL guru during your time here at Sauder and is here to help you!

Happy Holidays!

Video Practice Interviews

For most of you now you have conducted at least a couple of mock interviews. For those of you planning on applying for summer roles that post early such as banking, consulting, oil & gas, and CPG, we highly encourage you to take advantage of an early slot with an outside consultant for yet one more interview. This interview will give you great feedback on areas to work on going forward.

The Video Practice Interview has consistently been recognized as one of the most valuable career training programs the Hari B. Varshney Business Career Centre provides. This exercise will assist you in putting your best foot forward in interviews.

You will need to have completed an updated resume and will need to submit it to Carly with the completed Video Practice Form two days prior to the meeting. We send this information on to the consultant so he can prepare in advance. Carly will be in contact with those who have signed up before their scheduled session.

* Video Practice Interviews are 1 hour in length starting at 9:00-4:00 pm*
