CFA Awareness Scholarships

MBA Students:

If you are taking the CFA exam in June 2014, you may be eligible to obtain a CFA Awareness scholarship

What are CFA Awareness Scholarships?

Awareness Scholarships are designated for key influencers in the academic and financial communities.   These awards reduce the CFA Program enrollment and exam registration fee (includes access to the curriculum eBook) to US$350.   NOTE: Scholarship candidates are responsible for any additional costs related to selecting/purchasing the curriculum.

Eligibility for University/College Students:

 The Scholarships Candidate must be a currently enrolled college or university student in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at a school that is either a CFA Program Partner (which UBC is) or in the University Recognition Program.

Recipients of the June scholarship may only apply it to the upcoming June exam (Levels I, II, and III).

  3. All applications (MBA & B.Com.) will be reviewed and the successful candidates forwarded by the Sauder School of Business to the CFA by the deadline of February 3, 2014.

2014 3M National Student Fellowship

The Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) and 3M Canada are proud to announce the Call for Nominations for the 2014 3M National Student Fellowship.

The 3M National Student Fellowship honours up to ten students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in their lives and at their college or university. These students embrace a vision of quality education that enhances their academic experience and beyond.

The Fellowship is open to full-time, post-secondary undergraduate college or university diploma or degree program students registered at a Canadian institution. Candidates must be enrolled in their first undergraduate program, and not be in their first or final year.

Each cohort member will:
• Receive an award of 5,000 to be spent at their discretion.
• Join the others at the June 2014 STLHE Conference at Queen’s University (June 17 to 20) where they will also participate in a 3M National Student Fellowship retreat.
• Receive a contribution toward the cost of conference travel and accommodations.
• Develop a cross-Canadian collaborative project to enhance teaching and learning at the post-secondary level..

Schulich Fellowship Application Deadline – Wed., Oct 16 (tomorrow!!)

This is a reminder that applications for the Schulich Fellowship for Entrepreneurship are due by no later than 8:30 am, Wednesday, October 16th, 2013

A Fellowship of $5,000 has been established by Seymour Schulich for a student entering the full-time MBA program at the Sauder School of Business.

 Eligibility Criteria:

Criteria for the award includes entrepreneurial achievement or potential, and overall previous academic performance. Abilities such as demonstrated leadership, initiative and innovativeness will receive particular consideration.

This award is open to all Graduating Class of 2015 full-time MBA students.

Application Procedure:

 Submit the following:

  1.  Cover letter (length 1 to 2 pages maximum) providing information on your leadership roles and/or entrepreneurial achievements (describing the initiative and innovation you demonstrated in this area) along with relevant community and/or extracurricular activities.
  2. Current resume or curriculum vitae

Minerva Foundation Awards for Women in Business – Reminder

Deadline for Application to both awards is August 1, 2013.

The Minerva Foundation for BC Women is building a sustainable community of women leaders. The Minerva Foundation Education Awards promote the development of women leaders through education, by assisting them with the costs of tuition. Our education awards target women who will have the most impact in their work or community, and those in fields or demographic groups who are currently underrepresented in leadership roles.

Hager Family Fund Award – $10,000
This fund for BC women seeking to pursue their career in Business Administration is a result of the generosity of the Hager Family in partnership with the Sauder School of Business, the University of British Columbia.

Randy Sung Award – $500
This fund for BC women seeking to pursue their career in Business is a result of the generosity of the Randy Sung Education Endowment Fund.

Minerva Foundation Awards for Women in Business
