Sauder Social Entrepreneurship (Kenya) Join us in 2014!

Students interested in going to Kenya in the summer of 2014: Please see the attached Application Form and complete it by January 20, 2014.

Some specifics:

The program will be a month long in August 2014 and in Nairobi;

1)      The flight will be around $2500 if you book early. It is prime safari time so the most expensive time of the year;

2)      Lodging is in a basic but safe and central place and is about $55/night for a single room and that includes breakfast. Double rooms are available and cost around $35 each night;

3)      Spending is around $600 but depends on the student;

4)      We expect $1,000 from each student to contribute to materials and supplies and other direct costs. You can fundraise as much as much as you want to cover this cost, and others, on your own. One student last year raised $5500 on his own so it paid for his entire trip!

Total is approximately:  $2500 + $1500 +$600 + $1000 = $5600.  Safaris are extra and can go from $500 for a four day trip to $4000 depending upon how swanky you want to be and how rich you are!

Talk by Dr. Jerome Rive, Dean of the IAE Lyon School of Management

Students and Faculty are invited to attend a talk by Dr. Jerome Rive, Dean of the IAE Lyon School of Management at University Lyon 3

Friday, November 22nd at 3:00 – 3:40 pm
Sauder School of Business, Room HA 243

Presentation title:
French perspective on International Business and Management of Multinational Companies

Presentation Summary:
The presentation will be based on a collective undertaking involving 21 members of the International Management team of the IAE Lyon School of Management Research Center which resulted in the publication of a book, edited by Dr. Ulrike Mayrhofer in 2013; « Management of Multinational Companies: A French Perspective ».  The presentation will focus on companies, established or operating in France, which engage in foreign direct investments and own or control added-value businesses in different countries. While multinational management has already been widely studied by scholars, the aim of the presentation is to provide an in-depth reflection over a cross-section of firms that are either French or operate in France. It will show the importance of contextualizing MNC theory and will reveal the variety and complexity of managerial choices when national markets are decompartmentalised.
