Optional Grammar Workshops in Period 3

Grammar is an essential part of writing, as it helps to convey the message or idea you are trying to get across. That being said, most writers might agree that their grammar skills could use a little freshening up from time to time. If you are a student looking to improve your grammar, be sure to sign up for a workshop in Period 3 (workshops are optional and free for all MBA students).

Add/Drop Deadline

Please be advised that you will have until Monday, January 13th, 2013 to drop a class without a “W” on your academic history. In situations where the first week’s classes are postponed (ie. a make-up class has been scheduled), the withdrawal date will be revised to allow students to attend the first 20% of class hours (4 hours) and make the decision to drop the module without penalty. Students in this situation should contact the Graduate Programs Office at askmba@sauder.ubc.ca for assistance and advice.

Students may withdraw from any modules in the FT MBA Program in which they are registered at any time during the first week (i.e. within 4 hours of teaching for a 1.5 credit module. It is recommended that you attend all the classes you are interested in, regardless if you are registered, to ensure you do not miss out on any course content if you were to register later on.

Please review the Add/Drop Policy on Connect.

Sauder Social Entrepreneurship (Kenya) Join us in 2014!

Students interested in going to Kenya in the summer of 2014: Please see the attached Application Form and complete it by January 20, 2014.

Some specifics:

The program will be a month long in August 2014 and in Nairobi;

1)      The flight will be around $2500 if you book early. It is prime safari time so the most expensive time of the year;

2)      Lodging is in a basic but safe and central place and is about $55/night for a single room and that includes breakfast. Double rooms are available and cost around $35 each night;

3)      Spending is around $600 but depends on the student;

4)      We expect $1,000 from each student to contribute to materials and supplies and other direct costs. You can fundraise as much as much as you want to cover this cost, and others, on your own. One student last year raised $5500 on his own so it paid for his entire trip!

Total is approximately:  $2500 + $1500 +$600 + $1000 = $5600.  Safaris are extra and can go from $500 for a four day trip to $4000 depending upon how swanky you want to be and how rich you are!
