SUBJECT:         Peer Review of Your Definition Assignment – Confirmation Bias

Hi Tameen,

I have reviewed your Definition Assignment. You did a great job of explaining the term; confirmation bias. I understood your definition and learned something new. Your assignment was clear however, I have provided some suggestions on how you may further improve your assignment:

Audience: The way you explain the term is great considering your audience however, it would be nice if you included an example that related to this audience. For this you could say how a couple might do this in the relationship. Providing an example would give the couple a reference as to when they might do this.

Organization: The flow of your assignment is great especially your expanded definition. Your progression makes sense and it is easy to follow. If I can offer one suggestion it would be your comparison explanation. The way your present the two concepts is good, but your comparison makes it sound like motivated reasoning and confirmation bias are the same term. This line in particular could be reworded; “That is, it leads us to have a confirmation bias.”

Grammar and Punctuation: For the most part your grammar and punctuation were fine but there were a couple of spots that needed some improvement. When addressing our group, you begin the second sentence with “Majority” but it would flow better if you said “The majority” instead. The other mistake I found was in the first sentence of your introduction, your said “the criteria of this assignment is…” You should say “…this assignment are” as there are more than one criteria.

Final impressions: Overall your definition assignment was great. Your assignment flows nicely and is easy to read. I understood the definition right away. The only suggestions I would offer are to add an example that relates to a couple, have a clear distinction between motivated reasoning and confirmation bias and fix your grammar mistakes. Other than those minor suggestions, keep up the great work!

Please reach out if you have any questions.
