Memo: Best Practices for LinkedIn Professional Networking

Subject: Best Practices for LinkedIn Professional Networking

 

As requested in Lesson 2:2 assignments, the following list summarizes best practices for professional networking on LinkedIn:

  • Create valuable content – make an engaging headline, include an appropriate professional profile photo and post relevant content.
  • Be regular in your activity – update your status and post new materials on a regularly base.
  • Check your personal connection pool – through a personal searchable pool you can scope potential users and extend the LinkedIn community.
  • Use personalized notes – send an individual invites to every single person, introducing yourself and describing why you are inviting them to connect.
  • Showcase your work – upload visual content: images, videos, presentations to make page`s content more noteworthy and reader-friendly.
  • Join/follow professional groups and communities – highlight your professional interests by engaging in the related groups, which could help to form new connections.
  • Avoid LinkedIn pitfalls – eschew common user`s mistakes: abstain from sharing irrelevant materials; add your e-mail address, blog`s page, link to personal website to foster the contact.
  • Proofreading – review spelling and grammar thoroughly before every new posts.
  • Always be learning about LinkedIn – there is a vast number of resources for best LinkedIn practice, try to regularly check them out to continuously refine your profile.
