November Graduation Ceremonies

As another set of graduates cross the stage, this November marks President Ono’s first Convocation as UBC President. Graduation is one of those special events where so many UBC units partner together to create this special celebration including the Ceremonies Office, The Chan Centre, the Bookstore, Parking Services, Campus Security, Food Services, and last but certainly not least, Enrolment Services.

Several months before the celebration begins, the graduation team is processing applications, scheduling processions, printing diplomas, preparing awards and coordinating with each Faculty to support the final stages of academic progression. A special thanks to Brenda Rooke, Stephanie Boudreau, Christine Williams, and Vicki Jung responsible for the behind-the-scenes magic of Graduation.

The graduation marshals, who volunteered this November, handed each candidate their diplomas at the Graduate Student Centre prior to this year’s wet and windy march to the Chan Centre. Thanks to Scottford Price, Liana Leung, Leanne Feichtinger, Cindy Nahm, Cherry Wang, Alia Abu-Sharife, Claire Vial, Ella Wong, Hala Nugent, Ashley Elchuk, and Jane Young.

And, please join me in congratulating our very own ES-ers, Sean Boileau (Admissions) and Jeannine Cairns (Student Advising and Support) on crossing the stage in recognition of the completion of their Masters in Education. Way to go, ES and friends!
