After the opening ceremony of the 2014 Gathering Our Voices conference, a province-wide event for hundreds of Aboriginal youth. Kristen’s sister, Kim (in the white jacket) served as the event MC.

Meet Kristen

Professional

Kristen joined ES after working in the Faculty of Education in alumni engagement, where she strengthened communications with close to 50,000 Faculty of Education alumni.

Previously, she worked for the First Nations Education Steering Committee in communications. She supported the negotiation and adoption of the Tripartite Education Framework Agreement, a partnership between First Nations, British Columbia, and Canada to support Aboriginal student success.

 Personal

Kristen graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, and is a member of the Tsilhqot’in Nation with family ties to the Okanagan (Sylix) Nation.

Kristen volunteers as a mentor for the Faculty of Arts Tri-Mentoring program, and is a board member with ArtStarts in Schools. She likes to try new things, and often this comes with a good story. Ask her about the time she took up cycling and tried the first-ever Okanagan Trestle Tour!
