It’s spring and once again, and it’s time once again to put out a call out for volunteers for  the May 2019 graduation ceremonies in Vancouver. 28 graduation ceremonies take place (four per day) over 7 days, May 22-30.

We need your help! We need two volunteers for each ceremony, and the time commitment is approximately 60 to 90 minutes.

The job is simple, and is a great opportunity for you to connect with students and participate in an exciting and important UBC event.  In Thea’s lounge,(Koerner House, Graduate Student Centre, 6371 Crescent Road), you will hand graduates their diplomas before they go to their ceremony in the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts.

Graduation is also a fun time to be around the the flagpole plaza to see our new Alumni celebrating!

How it works:

    1. Show up at the time noted in the Doodle poll for the ceremony you sign up for.
    2. Graduates will enter Thea’s Lounge and pick up their robes from the UBC Bookstore team, then they will proceed to the graduation table to pick up their diplomas.
    3. Graduates will tell you their procession number and you will locate their diploma and present it to them.
    4. When all of the diplomas have been given out, you’re free to head back to your office.

To sign up please visit the Doodle poll in the link below

The signup deadline is Monday, April 29.

If you would like to volunteer for a particular program’s graduation ceremony, find out the date and time at  https://graduation.ubc.ca/schedule/

Thanks to all who are able to help out!

Please note, that there is a separate call out to the wider UBC community to volunteer at graduation. This volunteer opportunity will help with other graduation related activities, and is managed through the Ceremonies office. Details can be found at https://graduation.ubc.ca/volunteer/
