pit crewAnyone who knows anything about cars, knows that routine maintenance is required to keep a vehicle in good condition. But what does it take to keep a race car performing its best? For anyone who has watched a NASCAR race, you’ll know that it takes not just one person, but an entire crew. You’ve got your maintenance crew, support crew, crew chief, and many other important crew members.

UBC’s Okanagan campus is a well-oiled machine. Just like a race car, there are countless members of the ‘pit crew’, working hard to keep it running and performing its best.

Throughout the year, the pit crew helps to maintain and refuel the engine with coffee, baked goods, and assorted snacks at monthly Pit Stops. Pit Stops are hosted each month by a different department or faculty on campus and are open to all staff and faculty members.

It’s a great opportunity for staff and faculty to connect with colleagues, meet new people, enjoy delicious treats, and donate to a good cause. Each person is asked to donate two dollars to the campus-wide United Way campaign.

The next Pit Stop is being hosted by the Irving K. Barber School of Arts & Sciences on Thursday, August 18th from 9:30-10:30am in the FIPKE Foyer. We hope to see everyone there to re-connect and refuel before we speed into the 2016/2017 academic year!
