Thank you for joining Kate, Jay, and your colleagues on both the Okanagan and Vancouver campuses for the first of many cross-campus gatherings. We hope you learned more about the WES results, how they related to the ES External Review and Self-Study, and how we plan to respond to the WES findings both at the ES level and at the individual unit level.

In order to make this work focused and manageable, Kate has asked:

  • Enrolment Services to carry on with initiatives that support our ES wide opportunities (see presentation slides ), an example of which is the Performance Development Conversation initiative. This initiative is intended to move ES towards a culture of having consistent and regular performance development conversations. The framework for this initiative is in development with ES HR and leadership teams, and will be introduced to all staff in the fall.
  • Each unit to review their unit’s WES results (or ES department results if unit report is not available) and identify one success to celebrate and sustain, and one area of opportunity to address.

ES MAC (Management Action Committee) members will play a key in championing the unit-level work for their respective units. MAC members will support their teams to identify and address successes and opportunities, ensuring that the approach taken resonates with their unit.

This work is planned to begin in the fall. It is recognized that it will take time and will be ongoing in nature. A progress check-in is intended to take place at the end of the fiscal year (March 31st), whereby units will have identified their success and opportunity to address, and have ideally begun some work towards sustaining the success and addressing the opportunity.

Please share your ideas, feedback, questions, and concerns with your manager, a member of the MAC, or ES HR (Ashley Elchuk or Annie Yim). Your involvement is key to ensuring the opportunities you identified in the WES survey can be addressed in a way that makes a real difference to you presentation slides and everyone in ES.

Missed the event or want a recap? You can watch a recording of the WES kickoff below, on Youtube, or on the Confluence Wiki—where you will also find a copy of the Slido results and presentation slides.
