Call for Nominations: Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships

Note: This scholarship is for students pursuing their first doctoral degree. Students pursuing course-based degrees are not eligible.

The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (CGS) program is designed to attract and retain world-class doctoral students by supporting students who demonstrate both leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and humanities, natural sciences and engineering, and health-related fields. Canadian and international students are eligible to be nominated for a Vanier Scholarship, which is valued at $50,000 per year for up to three years.

The application is completed online on ResearchNet: https://www.researchnet-recherchenet.ca/rnr16/LoginServlet

The deadline for applicants to inform the LFS grad program office of their intent to apply is August 6, 2018.  Please email lfs.gradmgr@ubc.ca of your intent to apply.

The deadline for applicants to submit applications on ResearchNet is 11:59 pm (PDT – Vancouver time) on Thursday, 6 September 2018.

The deadline for graduate programs to submit nominations to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies is 4:00 pm on Tuesday, 25 September 2018.

Idea Rally

Re: unique brainstorming session

The “Idea Rally” will be a unique online collaboration for people from many different disciplines to help solve an interesting chemistry/materials/Food Science problem.   The session is “open source”, with anyone being able to use any of the ideas generated.   The event would be perfect for students who want to take part in a real-world solving session.

There will be prizes given away for participation, totaling $10,000.  There are no specific time requirements.
