• The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies does not provide transcripts for award/scholarship applications.
• It is the applicant’s responsibility to submit up-to-date transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate studies via the Research Portal before the deadline. An application will be deemed ineligible if it does not include the up-to-date transcripts required for determining grade point average (academic standing) in each of the last two completed years of study (full-time equivalent).
• Transcripts cannot be updated or submitted separately after the deadline.

Important reminders regarding reference assessment forms:

• Referees (faculty members) are strongly encouraged to complete their assessments and submit them via the Research Portal well in advance of the December 1 deadline (instructions).
• Applicants cannot submit their CGSM application until the two reference assessment forms have been completed and submitted in the Research Portal. The deadline will not be extended for applicants who are unable to submit because of missing reference assessments.

Mackenzie King Memorial Scholarships

The Mackenzie King Open Scholarship is open to graduates of any Canadian university who engage in (commence or continue) graduate study (master’s or doctoral) in any field, in Canada or elsewhere. One Open Scholarship is awarded annually. The value has lately been $12,000 but is subject to change. 

The Mackenzie King Travelling Scholarship is open to graduates of any Canadian university who engage in (commence or continue) graduate study (master’s or doctoral) in the United States or the United Kingdom, of international relations or industrial relations (including the international or industrial relations aspects of law, history, politics and economics).  Four Travelling Scholarships of $13,500 have lately been awarded annually, but the number and value of scholarships are subject to change.

Eligible applicants must be a graduate (holder of a degree) of a Canadian university when tenure of the scholarship begins (September 2023).

Applications must be made to the Faculty of Graduate Studies of the applicant’s home university. This is the Canadian university from which the applicant most recently graduated or at which the applicant is currently enrolled.

Under the supervision of Statistics professors, Statistics students will provide free project-specific data analysis, including a formal written report, as part of their STAT 450 and 550 practicum consulting courses that will run next term. The submission deadline of Dec 15 is only a few weeks away! Jean Philippe Gervais, Vice president and Economist of Farm Credit Canada will speak to the MFRE Students this Friday, Nov 25 about Economics and Valuation. Everyone is invited!

J.P. Gervais is Vice-President and Chief Agricultural Economist at FCC. He has over 20 years of experience analyzing domestic and international agricultural policies and markets, and his insights help guide strategy and monitor risk throughout the corporation. He’s frequently a featured speaker at national and international conferences, addressing global trends and the linkages to agri-food markets. In addition to acting as an FCC spokesperson on economic matters, J.P. provides commentary on the agriculture industry through videos and the FCC Ag Economist blog.

Prior to joining FCC in 2010, J.P. was a professor of agricultural economics at North Carolina State University and Laval University. He also held the Canada Research Chair in Agri-Industries and International Trade at Laval. J.P. is Past-President of the Canadian Agricultural Economics Society. He obtained his Ph.D. in economics from Iowa State University in 1999

Topics covered during the seminar: the role of FCC and its offerings, the role of an economist at a financial institution, and the type of economic research the ag-econ FCC research group does
