We are teacher educators interested in supporting students’ learning of social justice issues through the application of  mathematics concepts and ideas. We would therefore like to learn more about students’ experiences through discussions or conversation. No specific or previous mathematics background is required to participate in this study.

If you are a current or former student of  Land, Food and Community – LFS250 course at UBC, you are invited to participate in this study. Participation will consists of a 45-minutes interview where you will be interviewed on how social justice issues such as food security, food sovereignty, animal welfare and other social justice related issues discussed in the course (LFS250) could be approached or better understood in the context of mathematics. Potential participants will receive details of the study and the sample interview questions via email if  interested. Total time commitment for participation in the study is 45 minutes. An honorarium of $30 (cash/gift card) will be given to acknowledge your time. Your identity will be kept confidential by using pseudonyms.

If you are interested in participating in this study please contact Kwesi Yaro, kwesi.yaro@alumni.ubc.ca.
