Friedman Award for Scholars in Health

The Friedman Award for Scholars in Health is open to any UBC graduate student or medical resident studying in the area of health. ‘Health’ is interpreted very broadly, and includes health promotion and disease prevention, mental health research, laboratory sciences related to medicine or health, public health, health services research, or any area intended to impact human health.

Awards of up to $50,000 each will be granted for six or more months of study outside of Western Canada.  Friedman Scholars are expected to travel to other areas of the world to seek new perspectives, learn from experts in their fields and be exposed to different cultures.  The award amount will be at the discretion of the adjudication committee.

PRSSS World Soil Day Celebration Dec. 5 & Soil Deck of Cards

You’re invited to celebrate World Soil Day with the PRSSS!

Come try your hand at painting with soils! All the supplies will be provided. Here’s some inspiration to get you excited.

If you can’t attend the UBC event, don’t worry, there’s another way to participate!

The PRSSS is making a custom deck of playing cards with different fun soil facts on each card. Help us share our love and knowledge of soils by submitting your favourite soil fact(s) here! Facts should be understandable by the general public. Please make submissions max 50 words. We hope to have the decks available for purchase by our Spring AGM and Workshop next year.
