It’s Science Literacy Week, so we are taking the opportunity to celebrate the diverse and amazing ways that Ocean Wise use science to help protect our oceans and the research it does to advance frontiers of ocean and conservation research.

Learn what is it is like to study whales in the Salish Sea, how you can help endangered species along the BC coast and why school children in rural Canada get so excited when Ocean Wise’s mobile aquarium comes to town!

Can you please remind all Graduate Students that are hoping to have their degree granted in November, with the option to attend the November congregation ceremony, that the application for graduation will be available on the Student Service Centre until Friday, September 14, 2018.

A late application form for graduation will be available on our website early next week for students that have missed the Student Service Centre deadline.  Please note that this form is for Graduate Students only.

Last day for final master’s theses and doctoral dissertations to be approved by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies for November 2018 degree granting and Congregation. Must be approved and accepted by 4:00 pm.

Last day for students to complete all program requirements (including major papers) for non-thesis master’s degrees for November 2018 degree granting and Congregation.

DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst) Study Scholarships and Research Grants are available for highly qualified graduate students, PhD candidates, and post-doctoral researchers in all disciplines to study and carry out research at universities or research institutes in Germany. These scholarship provide funds for a period of study and/or research in Germany.

UBC is a DAAD Partner University and may nominate a total of two priority candidates for the Study Scholarship and/or Long-Term Research Grant programs. Applicants are required to submit their application via the DAAD Online Portal. Waitlist registration is now open for the Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) October 21, 27, 28 2018.  The ISW is a 3-day intensive workshop that develops participant’s teaching skills and confidence.  It is appropriate for first time teachers or those with years of experience.  Join the thousands of students who have taken this workshop. The ISW is an internationally recognized program and students receive transcript notation for their participation. In addition, graduate students in STEM departments are eligible to become CIRTL associates upon completion of the workshop.

IMPORTANT: The workshop runs from 8:15am-5:00pm. Please note you must attend all three days for the complete duration of the workshop, i.e. the entire 24-hour workshop.
