Upcoming Workshops at the UBC Farm

Standard

The Centre for Sustainable Food Systems at the University of British Columbia is excited to announce that registration for the first half of our 2018 workshop series is now open! The UBC Farm hosts a wide range of workshops covering everything from permaculture and gardening to herbal medicine, weaving, fermenting, foraging, and much more. This year, we have added several new workshops and brought back many favourites. All of our workshops are beginner friendly and open to everyone, so please share with your networks! For more details and to register, visit our website, or view our list of workshops below.

Please sign up early, as popular workshops sell out; and workshops with insufficient registration are cancelled five days prior.  To stay informed of new workshop offerings and other events at the UBC Farm, please sign up for our e-newsletter.

Thank you for being a part of this community and we hope to see you at the UBC Farm soon!

A PDF version of our workshop series poster can also be supplied on request.

Graduate Student Input for UBC Graduate Education Plan

Standard

Dear UBC graduate students,

Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (G+PS) is undergoing a consultation process to develop a five-year strategic plan for graduate education and postdoctoral studies at UBC.  We believe graduate education is critically important to the university and to society, and we are very excited to develop a plan that will further advance our already outstanding programs and research. This has been happening at the same time as the broader strategic planning underway at the university, allowing us to delve into the domain more deeply and to inform and complement the university’s overall plan.

Our consultations to date have included sessions with faculty, student leaders, deans, associate deans, and staff.  We now invite you to share your thoughts on what is working well at UBC, what could be better, and where you would like to see the university go over the next 5 years.  I’ve attached a short document that provides some context for the discussion, that highlights the areas we currently view as a priority, and that focuses on a few key questions.

We would very much appreciate if you could join us for a discussion on any of these dates:

  • Thursday, February 1, 3:00-4:30pm – room 200, Graduate Studies Building, 6371 Crescent Road
  • Friday, February 2, 3:00-4:30pm – DHCC 2267, Diamond Health Care Centre, Vancouver General Hospital
  • Monday, February 5, 3:00-4:30pm – LSC 1312, Life Sciences Centre, 2350 Health Sciences Mall

We look forward to seeing you there!
