Request for Assistance with Promoting a Study

Standard

My name is Diandra Leslie. I’m a PhD student studying in the Substance Use and Gambling Lab in the Department of Psychology at the University of Calgary, supervised by Dr. Daniel McGrath (https://www.ucalgary.ca/labs/gamblinglab). We are collaborating on a study with Dr. Lianne Tomfohr-Madsen in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, and Special Education at the University of British Columbia (https://www.healthyfamilieslab.com/). If there is a more appropriate person to direct this email to, please forward it to them.

I’m currently working on my dissertation research, which is a study looking at substance use and gambling trends among university students across Canada. I’m sending this email to ask if you can assist me with promoting this study by sending an email to the undergraduate and graduate student listservs for the Faculty of Land and Food Systems. I’ve drafted the email that I’d like students to receive, and I have two attachments to include with the email that provide more detail about the study. If you are willing to send this email to students, I can send you the draft and attachments in a follow-up email.

The study in question is an online survey that takes about 15 to 25 minutes to complete. All University of British Columbia students are eligible to participate. This study has been reviewed and approved for ethical compliance by the University of Calgary Conjoint Faculties Research Ethics Board (REB22-1540).

Please note that I am ONLY asking for an email to be sent to students. I am NOT asking to be provided with students’ contact information and I am NOT asking for anyone in your department to take on responsibilities related to managing student recruitment or answering questions about the study. If students have any questions, appropriate contact information is provided in the email I’d like students to receive.

Please let me know if you can assist me. Any help with promoting this study would be greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions for me, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Kind regards,

Diandra Leslie, MSc.
