Researchers occasionally need high-quality historical climate data for locations not found near an official WMO weather station. One solution to this problem is to generate computer simulated climate data from actual measurements using downscaling techniques.

Developed through research led by  UBC’s Dr. Tongli Wang and others, ClimateNA is a tool that allows you to do just that.  In this workshop, researcher Dr. Micheal Pidwirny will share how he has used ClimateNA as a tool in his own research of climate impacts at ski resorts in North America.

Knowledge exchange is a process in which academic and non-academic partners collaborate on research to share ideas, evidence, and expertise to inform policies, practices, public dialogue, and drive positive societal change. This online workshop will introduce key terminology, discuss the purpose of knowledge exchange and its importance in a research context, and explore diverse strategies and processes to bridge research evidence with real-world impact. Whether you are a researcher, student, or staff member, this workshop will offer a dynamic learning experience designed to help you understand how to integrate knowledge exchange into your work.

The Climate Solutions Research Collective is a new UBC pan-university initiative designed to build connections across UBC climate researchers, groups and initiatives, and to encourage new collaborative research on climate change solutions. It aims to foster engagement across departments and faculties, and to support graduate students and faculty in applying their research and expertise to climate change mitigation, adaptation, and/or education.
