Biological systems are dynamic in space and time. Modern digital image processing provides unprecedented insights into 2D and 3D aspects of structual features and their impact on system function. X-ray tomography scans collected for plants, soils and insects will serve as training datasets to obtain hands-on experience in digital image processing using open source software packages.
