Dear colleagues,
I was hoping we could get your assistance in promoting the following upcoming sustainability-related opportunities that may be of interest to your graduate students. My apologies for the wide email as I realize not all of these are relevant to your work.
Call for Applications: Sustainability Research Symposium
UBC graduate students are invited to showcase their research at UBC’s annual Sustainability Research Symposium on March 15. The symposium enables graduate student to share their work with the community and connect with others advancing sustainability. Applications due February 24. Poster printing covered. Presented by UBC Sustainability Ambassadors.
Funded PhD Workshop in Berlin
UBC PhD students are invited to present their climate related research at the second Spring Campus (March 28-31, 2017) organized by the Free University of Berlin – part of the University Sustainability Alliance. The campus brings together researchers, management staff, as well as PhD candidates and students to contribute to the discussion around the topic of “Societal Transformation to Sustainability: Universities as Pacesetters?”. The workshop is interested in topical areas of individual dissertations which should be reviewed in the light of the Paris Agreement. Application deadline is February 24.
Lunch and Learn | Building Innovation: Brock Commons
On February 27, join us over lunch and explore the innovative and sustainable approaches used to design and construct the currently tallest hybrid mass timber structure in the world – Brock Commons, the Tall Wood House. Brock Commons is the newest addition to UBC student residence buildings. We’ll kick off the event with free pizza and a short presentation on the building architecture and construction followed by discussion and a Q&A. Free; registration required as space is limited. Hosted in the CIRS building.
Thank you,
Marko
