On February 22nd the Student Biotechnology Network will be hosting Biotech Expo 2018. This event is a great chance for students to build connections and learn more about career opportunities in the biotech industry. We would be greatly appreciative if you could help us by sharing the following information with the students in your program.

The Student Biotechnology Network is pleased to invite you to one of our biggest events of the year, Biotech Expo 2018! Join us at the Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre at UBC for a night filled with networking and career exploration! Meet professionals from the top companies in the biotech industry, ask questions about the careers that interest you, and start building connections to help you land a job! This year’s expo will feature exhibitions from STEMCELL Technologies, KPMG, CDRD, Precision NanoSystems, and AbCellera!

After learning more about these companies and the career opportunities available to you, our keynote speaker, Dr. Jennifer Gardy, will share her personal career journey and tips for success. Dr. Gardy is a Senior Scientist at the BC Centre for Disease Control, an Assistant Professor at UBC’s School of Population and Public Health, and a Canada Research Chair in Public Health Genomics. She is also an occasional host of CBC’s The Nature of Things, a science communicator, and a children’s book author!

Following the keynote speaker, there will be 3 breakout sessions hosted by leaders within the biotech industry which will allow you to explore exciting career paths. The speakers include: 1) Jennifer Kaufman-Shaw, Vice President, Intellectual Property and Legal Affairs at ZymeWorks, 2) Helen Burt, Associate Vice President, Research and Innovation at UBC, 3) Nicole Quinn, Manager, Scientific Communications and Publishing at STEMCELL Technologies. Tickets for this event are now available at the SBN website! For more information about this event and how to register, click here.
