Food in Space Event

The MacMillan Space Centre will be hosting a range of space events for the public and Let’s Talk Science will be hosting a booth on March 19 and 20th at their event to demonstrate to the public how food is grown in space. We will even be giving out tomato seeds that were harvested in the International Space Station! Join us at the Food in Space event to help demonstrate to people how we grow food in zero gravity.

Uhill Elementary BBQ

Join UBCLTS and University Hill Elementary for the Annual uHill Elementary Earth Day BBQ! The Earth DayBBQ is an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the environment. We are looking for 4-6 volunteers to run some fun, crowd pleasing activities, including Edible DNA, H2Woah, and Smell your way Home for students and their families. Materials and training will be provided and volunteers will be provided with delicious barbecue!
Who: Elementary Students
When: April 19th, 4:30pm-7pm

Highlands EcoFEST

Highlands Elementary is running a full day event to promote Earth Day and teach students about environmental issues. They have partnered up with Let’s Talk Science to bring workshops to their classroom about issues such as overfishing (Activity: Salmon Jenga). We are looking for volunteers to help run hands-on workshops for students. Multi-shifts will be available. Sign up for your preferred shifts. There are 8 available workshops, please sign up for at least 2.

When: April 26th: 9-9:30; 9:30-10; 10-10:30; 11-11:30; 11:30-12; 12-12:30; 1:15-1:45; 1:45-2:15
