I would like to invite anyone interested to attend the upcoming UBC Graduate Career Readiness Day (see attached poster) on Tuesday, May 22. The event is targeted to Masters, PhDs, and Post-doc students who are interested in exploring career options outside of academia, and looking to feel empowered about doing so. If you are interested in learning more about supporting graduate students, this is a great event to attend.
The event consists of 2 parts:
9:30-12:00: Presentation by Anne Krook (former professor who went on to work in the private sector, notably at Amazon) on job search strategies. Full details here
12:30-2:30: Hands-on workshop by Tom Scholte of UBC’s Conflict Theatre on overcoming fear and negative self-talk. Full details here
You are welcome to attend one or both of the sessions; please email me to let me know if you are interested, and I will send out a calendar invite to those individuals.
Sincerely,
Danielle Barkley PhD
