Visit Wonderful, Winter, Whistler

The GSS is heading to Whistler on February 2nd and there’s still a chance to sign up. We have several options whether you want to spend a day skiing on the mountains or just explore beautiful Whistler village with it’s selection of shops and restaurants.

And three lucky students can win a ticket for the day (not including lift pass). Just head over to our Facebook  page and tell us one thing the GSS could do to help grad students in 2019. We’ll pick three winners at random to join us.

Volunteer for Student Mental Health

The GSS is collaborating with CASA to advocate for governmental financial assistance for student mental health on January 31st. We will be setting up at the AMS Student Nest to explain the issues and to ask students to support the campaign by writing their comments on broken hearts.

We need 10 student volunteers to help us out.

If your interested email: aa@gss.ubc.ca  and indicate what times  you would like to volunteer, we’ll be there from 9am-5:pm.

Student Survey Findings

Over the last few months the GSS have been analyzing and interpreting the data from our 2018 survey. It provides an excellent snapshot of the experiences of graduate students at UBC.

You can review the key findings, which cover everything from relationship with supervisors to health and finance HERE. The GSS use these results to help us advocate to the University and Province on behalf of graduate students

  • Are between the ages of 19 – 55
  • Have moved to Vancouver within the last 6 weeks OR have lived in Vancouver for 5 years or more

  • Can read, understand, and speak English
  • Do not take any hormone replacement therapies (e.g., birth control pills)
