Dr. Kokulan Vivekananthan, Research Associate, Department of Plant Agriculture, University of Guelph

Dr. Kokulan Vivekananthan was born in Sri Lanka, where he earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Agricultural Technology and Management with a specialization in soil science. In 2012, he relocated to Canada to pursue a Master of Science (MS) in Soil Science at the University of Manitoba. Subsequently, he achieved a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Waterloo. For his doctoral research, he extensively investigated runoff generation and nutrient transport within tile-drained agricultural landscapes in the Red River Valley. Presently, Dr. Vivekananthan serves as a Research Associate at the University of Guelph, where his work revolves around delving into soil phosphorus dynamics and optimizing fertilizer application strategies. He is deeply engrossed in tracking phosphorus solubility and migration through the unsaturated zone, showcasing his profound passion and expertise in vadose zone hydrology and nutrient dynamics within agricultural contexts.
