Info Session – NEW ECE Certifications

Standard

With the recent commitment to universal childcare in British Columbia, there is a need for qualified Early Childhood Educators.

UBC’s Faculty of Education is offering a program of courses that would lead to the BC Early Childhood Education (ECE) Assistant and Basic Certificates. These credentials are required by the Ministry of Children and Family Development to work in early childhood settings in BC. Upon completion of the courses in the program, graduates apply to the Early Childhood Education Registry for certification.

We encourage you or faculty, staff and students of the Faculty of Land and Food Systems to join us for a free webinar to learn about the program application process, deadline, fees, requirements, and more. Program advisor Dr. Iris Berger will be available after the presentation to answer any questions.

Summer Hikes and Shakespeare

Standard
Join the GSS at Bard on the Beach July 14th
We’re organizing a special trip to see Shakespeare’s classic comedy As You Like in the beautiful setting of Vanier Park. This joyful production is a tribute to love, laughter and music. Set in the 1960’s it features 25 classic Beatles songs.

It’s a ton of fun.The cast’s performances of the songs are great, as is the lovingly recreated 1960’s setting. There’s even an onstage All-Star Wrestling event before the show.

Hike Eagle Bluffs with the GSS
Only July 28th  we’re off to Cypress Provincial Park to hike to Eagle Bluffs! It’s a 4 hour (round trip) intermediate hike that offers a spectacular view of Vancouver. On exceptionally clear days one can see as far as Vancouver Island to the west and even the snowy slopes of Mount Baker to the south.

You will need boots or runners with good tread and support – NO CONVERSE OR SANDALS! Bring at least 1 litre of water and snacks or lunch to enjoy at the bluffs. The views alone are worth the effort

   The GSS says thank-you
On June 27th the GSS welcomed graduate program administrators from across campus for a special thank-you lunch in Thea’s Lounge. This is our chance to thank these staff for the tremendous work they do in supporting graduate students on campus and a chance to get their feedback on what more the GSS can do for the graduate student community
