When Are 2022 Tax Slips Available?

UBC issues electronic tax slips as PDFs that faculty, staff and student employees can download through Workday. T4 and T4A tax slips for the 2022 tax year are expected to be available through Workday by February 28, 2023.

Help improve the reach of your research and your skills! Communicating your work to a wider audience can help inform policy and society, and gets you hired. Join Nivi Thatra for this free workshop covering how to
1- write a lay abstract/summary of your research, which is a requirement for all UBC grad students when submitting your dissertation and,
2- getting starting with or refining your professional online presence.

Please bring a research topic, paper, or online profile (IRES profile, Twitter, LinkedIn, and/or ORCID iD, ResearcherID and/or Google Scholar profile) on which to practice your newfound skills. This hour is for YOU… use it to check off part of your dissertation, prep for a presentation, or update your professional profiles.

We hope to see you in-person (or livestream) at our Coach House for one of our public events or lectures this year. You can sign up for the Green List to receive weekly public programming notices. All publicized events at the College are open to the public, and no registration is required.

A bit about Green College

Green College is a graduate residence on the UBC campus, with a mandate to promote exchange between academic disciplines at the graduate and postdoctoral levels. Since 1993, more than a thousand UBC graduate students have taken advantage of the College’s unique combination of west-coast living conditions, extracurricular academic programs, and broad array of social, artistic and recreational opportunities. As members of “a dynamic community of scholars dedicated to the multi-disciplinary ideal” (Cecil Green, founder), they have enriched their own intellectual lives and brought insights from cross-disciplinary and extracurricular conversations to bear on the work they do in their home departments and programs.

The College provides accommodation for around 85 graduate students at the master’s and doctoral levels, and another 15 places for postdoctoral scholars and visiting faculty. The maximum length of residency for members varies by program, and ranges from 1-4 years. No distinction is made between “professional” and “academic” programs; students in the Juris Doctor program are also eligible. Residency is offered incrementally in 12-month leases (“housing contract”), typically beginning in September.

The LFS Deans Office is sponsoring a student to attend the 2023 Advancing Women in Agriculture Conference (AWC), March 12-14, 2023, at the Hyatt Regency Downtown in Calgary, Alberta.

You must apply online before 11:59 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2023 for consideration. This is open to female undergraduate and graduate students in Land and Food Systems. The student who best explains why they are interested in attending the conference, and how they hope the program will benefit their career will be selected.

The student sponsorship will include the following:

·         Two nights’ accommodation (Sunday and Monday) at the Hyatt Regency in Calgary

·         Registration fee to attend AWC West 2023

·         Airfare – the Deans Office will also pay travel costs to & from Calgary, Alberta to attend the conference
