The Community Meeting for LFS faculty, staff and students will take place on Thursday June 28, 2018 at 12:00-1:00, location TBC. 

Coffee and cookies will be provided.  Please mark your calendar.

2018 Graduate Student Orientation

Orientation for newly admitted students 

Here’s a summary of the Orientation events planned for newly admitted students: 

Graduate Student Orientation: Thursday, August 30

·         International Student Orientation, CIRS 1250, 9:30AM – 11:30AM

This is an interactive session designed specifically for international students at the graduate level, addressing important topics such as study and work permits, work authorization, and health insurance.

 

·         Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Welcome, Chan Centre, 1PM – 4PM

Welcome addresses, as well as an overview of campus resources and strategies for thriving in graduate school from both the faculty and graduate student perspective. All newly admitted students are invited.

 

·         Campus Resources & Student Activity Fair, 4PM – 6PM

A G+PS & GSS partner event on the grass meridian on Main Mall near the flag pole (approximately 30 campus resource units and 18 student activity groups will have booths at this fair)

 

Other Orientation Programming

·         The GSS will host a variety of peer relationship building events throughout September.

·         G+PS will offer a suite of workshops including Scholarships and Awards, Time Management, and an information session from Equity and Inclusion.

·         International Student Advising will also be hosting a series of orientation sessions for students who arrive late to UBC.
