Canada/France research cooperation – Call for Applications

The French Embassy in Canada, in parntership with Campus France, has just opened the call for two programs, aiming at fostering research projects between France and Canada (outside of Quebec) :

 

–  High Level Scientific Fellowship, for PhD candidates and post-docs :

This program offers scholarships to PhD students or post-docs working in a Canadian university for a 2-month research mobility to France. The aim of this programme is to facilitate and strengthen collaboration with academic researchers, working in priority in the following fields : Emerging Technologies (AI, quantum, etc.), Health (One health, public health policy, genomics, etc.), Ocean and polar sciences (oceanography, biodiversity, marine ecology, etc.), Energy (renewable energy, net zero transition, sustainability, etc.) : https://francecanadaculture.org/high-level-scientific-fellowship/

 

–  Mourou/Strickland program, for researchers :

The Mourou/strickland program provides seed grants to encourage new bilateral cooperation, in all disciplines.

Short term vacancy for a Graduate Academic Assistant (GAA)

Between now and January 8th, I have an opportunity for an FNH or other LFS Grad Student to work with me on some administrative tasks. I am currently corresponding with potential Community Partners, to work with students registered in course FNH 473, the Applied Public Health Nutrition course. I have made contact with a number of potential partners, and will need to compile the information they share about possible Community Based Experiential Learning (CBEL) projects during the Winter 2023 term (January to April 2024.)

The successful applicant would need to have skills in working with, and corresponding with community partners, as well as skills with spreadsheets, Qualtrics  software, and timely completion of tasks. They would be corresponding with representatives from established community partners to compile all of the information from each partner, about the CBEL being offered to FNH 473 Students.

There would be a maximum of 60 hours available, paid at $33.76 per hour. Interested applicants can submit thier CV and a cover letter outlining how they can meet the recruitment criteria to gerryk@mail.ubc.ca .

Southern Interior Horticulture Show – Call for Students

Standard

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food is working with the Tree Fruit and Wine Grape industries to host one large agricultural educational show and tradeshow, the Southern Interior Horticulture Show, on February 16-17, in Penticton at the Penticton Trade and Convention Center.  We would like to create space for students pursuing a degree or diploma in these areas to participate and learn too!  We would love it if you could pass on the attached invitation If you have any students that you feel would be interested in volunteering (free entry and meals) and/or presenting a poster at the show.
