On behalf of the Pacific Regional Society of Science (PRSSS), I am pleased to invite you to attend our upcoming Fall Field Trip which will be held in the North Cascade region of British Columbia, Canada and Washington, USA from September 30 – October 1, 2017.

The Field Trip is targeted to undergraduate and graduate students and professionals in Soil Science, Earth Science, Agronomy, Forestry, Applied Biology and Environmental Science disciplines. All the information pertaining to the Field Trip are available in the attached poster and on our website.

November 2017 Graduation Deadlines.

Can you please remind all Graduate Students that are hoping to have their degree granted in November, with the option to attend the November congregation ceremony, that the application for graduation will be available on the Student Service Centre until Friday, September 15, 2017.

A late application form for graduation will be available on our website early next week for students that have missed the Student Service Centre deadline.  Please note that this form is for Graduate Students only.

Please advise students that are hoping to graduate in November 2017, that it is very important that they apply for graduation as soon as possible, and should not wait until they submit their final thesis to G+PS or complete the program requirements for non-thesis programs.

Last day for late applications for graduation to be submitted to Enrolment Services by all students expecting to graduate in November 2017.

Last day for final master’s theses and doctoral dissertations to be approved by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies for degrees to be conferred at November 2017 Congregation. Must be approved and accepted by 4:00 pm.

Last day for students to complete all program requirements (including major papers) for non-thesis master’s degrees to be conferred at November 2017 Congregation.

Let’s Talk Science UBC Wants You!!

Let’s Talk Science is a nationwide non-profit that seeks to improve science literacy and interest in Canada’s youth. Basically we go around to K-12 schools and do sweet hands-on activities to help kids get STOKED about science! The UBC branch alone reaches over 34,600 youth across Vancouver and British Columbia <– What?! That’s a lot of kiddos! Chyeah, and get this: 95% of kids say they’re more interested in STEM fields after one of our visits! Woop woop! 

If you love science and want to make an impact on the community WHILE getting some resume boosting skills, we want you! Come to one of our volunteer information sessions on Sept 13 (Wed, 5:30-6:30pm), Sept 15 (Fri, 12-1pm), or Sept 20 (Wed, 5-6pm). We’ll have free food (yeah, you heard me), as well as a bit of info to get you started with Let’s Talk Science!
