MFRE Speaker – Friday, September 13th

Standard

This week’s guest for the MFRE Speaker Series is Dr. Seyed H. Hosseini from the University of Saskatchewan.

While some studies indicate sub-optimal diet quality is a leading factor of death, and suggest that consumption of nutrient-dense food is higher with higher income. Other studies suggest that higher income slightly affects demand for nutritious food.

In this talk, Dr. Hosseini will present evidence related to the impact of different socioeconomic factors on the production of diet quality in Canada, with a special focus on the role of income among Canadians and immigrants.

Please share and distribute as you deem appropriate. Thank you.

UBC Climate Hub Presents Climate Solutions Showcase 2019

Standard

UBC Climate Hub (a project supported by the UBC Sustainability Initiative), comprised of student groups that work to address issues around climate change and climate justice.

The Climate Hub is hosting a day-long ‘Climate Solutions Showcase’ in the AMS Nest on Thursday September 26th, 2019 (Eventbrite link here and Facebook link here). The aim of this Showcase is to feature UBC students, researchers and staff, and external partners like you and the LFS Undergraduate Society, who are working on climate solutions to present their climate-related research and projects to new audiences, brainstorm opportunities for knowledge mobilization, and establish connections and opportunities for collaboration. Given the urgency of climate action in the context of the upcoming elections, the theme of the Showcase will be “Climate Solutions and Civic Engagement”. More information about the event is on the Eventbrite and Facebook pages.

We would really appreciate it if you could circulate this event with your community either via social media, newsletters, or website updates. We’ve attached additional graphics to make it easier to share widely.

Thank you for your time and we hope to see you there!
Please let me know if you have any questions, or if there is any other information I can provide.

Sincerely,

Katie Lund on behalf of the UBC Climate Hub
