May 2021 graduation

Last day for graduation applications to be submitted to Enrolment Services by all students expecting to graduate in May 2021 (can download form at G+PS website: May 2021 Late Graduation Application form – Graduate School – University of British Columbia – Vancouver – Canada (ubc.ca).

Last day for final master’s theses and doctoral dissertations to be approved by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies for May 2021 degree granting and Congregation. Must be approved and accepted by 4:00 pm.

Last day for students to complete all program requirements (including major papers) for non-thesis master’s degrees for May 2021 degree granting and Congregation. Program staff please date all of your degree completion memo’s for this date when forwarding to G+PS for processing.

PLEASE NOTE!

You MUST APPLY to graduate by Friday April 23, 2021.  There are no late applications.

If you DON’T APPLY, YOU DON’T GRADUATE!!!

MFRE News post: Lita’s Mexican Foods Grad Project

She worked with our industry partner, Lita’s Mexican Foods, a female-led company that has been innovating traditional Mexican foods into healthy products. Applying Master’s Degree Knowledge In The Food Industry: MFRE Partners With Lita’s Mexican Foods

As the last step in her master’s degree, MFRE student Claire Xia completed her Graduating Project with Lita’s Mexican Foods, during which she developed tools for assessing financial feasibility and managing inventory. To this day, Lita’s Mexican Foods continues to use these tools in their routine business decision-making.

We are currently recruiting GAAs for: FNH 381 921, Summer 2021, Term 1

Hours: 50 total (~12 hours per week, beginning immediately to May 10)

Work performed:

  • Helping to prepare course lectures based on learning objectives
  • Develop breakout room activities to compliment course learning objectives
  • Responsible for setting up canvas, uploading/transferring files on to canvas
  • Develop assessment materials (evaluation rubrics) for course learning objectives/activities
  • Organizing guest speakers/RD supervisors and coordinating with them to set up activities as needed

Hours: 33 total (~12 hours per week from May 10-28)

Work performed:

  • Must be available to assist in class (9-12 M-F, May 10-28) to facilitate breakout rooms, small group discussions, and in-class activities
  • Ensuring course assignments are submitted/complete on time
  • Reviewing course assignments and providing feedback (based on a provided rubric)
  • Responding to student inquiries re: course assignments and concepts as needed

Ivarson Soil Science Scholarship Application Deadline: April 23

$2,000 – Soil Science Scholarship Deadline – April 23

Candidates who meet the following criteria are welcome to apply:

  • Candidates must hold Canadian citizenship or Permanent Resident status in Canada.
  • Candidates must be registered full-time in a masters or doctorate program in the area of soil science (agriculture, agro-ecology, resource management, environment, geology or other related disciplines) at a recognized Canadian university. Note: A letter from the university confirming enrolment is required to be submitted in support of the application by the deadline, otherwise the application will be rejected.
  • Candidates must be entering the second or subsequent years of graduate studies in soil science (agriculture, agro-ecology, resource management, environment, geology or other related disciplines).

Previous recipients of this scholarship are not eligible for subsequent awards
