3 Minute Postdoc Slam (3MPS)

Standard

Dear Students, Postdocs, Faculty and Staff,

The UBC Postdoctoral Association is excited to announce that our popular 3 Minute Postdoc Slam (3MPS) is returning on Thursday August 12th from 2-5pm PDT (online). The 3MPS is a professional development event with a focus on public engagement.

The Slam competition is open only to UBC Postdocs and Research Associates (RAs), but everyone is welcome to attend! This is a great chance to learn more about the diverse research being done by UBC Postdocs and RAs. In addition, we have two amazing keynote speakers lined up who will share their expertise on public engagement. Sign Up now!

For UBC Postdocs and RAs, this is a great opportunity to showcase your work, practise your elevator pitch, and have a chance to win cash prizes! The presenter registration deadline is August 3rd at 4 pm PDT. Please submit your title and a 1-2 sentence description of your project through the registration form. We encourage Postdocs and RAs from all scientific fields to sign up.

More information is available on the attached flyer and on our website.

Kind regards,
The UBC Postdoc Association

Academic & Wellness Check In’s

Standard

Friendly reminder

On Behalf of the LFS Graduate & Postdoctoral Office

To:  LFS Graduate Students

We hope this email finds you well, safe and healthy!

The LFS Graduate & Postdoctoral Office is offering mandatory annual Academic & Wellness Check in’s with all research-based students (these check-in’s are also available for all professional program students as well, on a voluntary basis).  These individual zoom meetings will cover several topics including academic progress, funding, and wellbeing.

As access to our office has been restricted due to COVID,  it’s important that you feel supported by us and that you are aware of resources and services available to you, even if most of you still aren’t on campus.

You can book your appointment through Canvas (instructions attached).  The available appointments for August are now posted. Additional appointments will be scheduled as needed.

We hope you will find these meetings valuable.  Please don’t ever hesitate to contact us if you need anything.  We are here to help you.

Sincerely,

Sean, Shelley, Lia and Iris
